UnionPay is the largest card network in Asia, with more than 7 billion cards issued and support from over 170 banks. AlphaPay lets Canadian merchants accept UnionPay QR payments from the UnionPay app and partner banking apps, as well as UnionPay cards on supported terminals, with settlement in Canadian dollars on a T+2 basis.

UnionPay questions merchants ask
Is UnionPay QR the same as a UnionPay card payment?
No. UnionPay QR is a wallet payment made from the UnionPay app or a partner banking app by scanning a code. A UnionPay card payment is a card transaction on a POS terminal. AlphaPay supports QR on all its acceptance channels and cards on supported terminals.
When are UnionPay payments settled?
T+2, two business days after the transaction, in Canadian dollars.
Do I pay anything if I refund?
No. The service fee is waived on refunded transactions.
Can I accept UnionPay on my website?
Yes, through the free AlphaPay plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and OpenCart, or the AlphaPay API.
